Life is not constant. Every single second of life is drastically different from the second before. A flower grows a centimeter taller. The sun shifts position in the sky. The clouds adjust their ever-changing form. One day you’re happy, the next day you’re sad. One day you’re packing up for your first day of preschool and the next day you’re graduating high school. The friends you had two years ago are strangers now.
Life has a way of not asking for your permission. Your circumstances change. You can’t always prepare for what life throws at you. Boyfriends come and go. Friends leave. You change.
Oh, God never changes. He never leaves. God is always watching over you.
“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the Earth that he may strongly support those whose heart is completely in Him” 2 Chronicles 16:9
This verse assures us that His eyes are forever roaming the Earth watching over those whose hearts are deeply rooted in Him. He’s not waiting to see us fail, he’s watching to strongly support us when we need him. Always. He never leaves us, and he is always there when we need Him. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
When life is swirling around, He’s the eye of the storm: calm, stable, secure. He’s the refuge from life’s never ending chaos. When I feel alone in the world, God is there. When I’m sobbing into my pillow, God is there. When I’m laughing with my family, He’s there. He is right next to us in every circumstance. God’s loyalty to us and His power to change our lives far exceeds the circumstances of one day.
When you feel as if no one cares, God does. When you feel like no one notices you, God does. No matter what you do, God will not leave you. This is so comforting to us! Even though everything around us may be crumbling, and life takes off in a direction that we never expected, God is the same and He will not leave your side. This is the reason we can have peace in the midst of turmoil!
I pray that when life leaves us spinning, we can still hold on to this truth and regain our ground. I pray that we will cling to God and His promises. Know that God is your rock and He will steady your heart when you feel like collapsing. When the chaos of life convinces you that God has deserted you, listen closely to His still small voice promising you that He will never leave your side.
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave or forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
